Dear Rice Community,
I’m writing to thank you for celebrating my inauguration this past week and for joining me and Paula during such a special time.
We attended close to a dozen events over three days to mark what I consider a milestone in my career and life. Each event was special in different but meaningful ways. What I enjoyed most was seeing and visiting with so many of you.
With every interaction, I was reminded over and over again just how grateful I am to be the eighth president of this great university. I was also reminded of the enormous amount of support I’ve received from so many of you. Without your support, I would not be where I am today. And, with your continued support, we will be able to do what I have committed to do to move Rice forward.
Therefore, I ask each and every one of you to join the journey to transform our university and take us to the next level of excellence and impact. As many of you heard in my investiture speech on Saturday, Rice has accomplished a lot over the past 110 years, but there is so much more to be done.
Again, thank you for making this event so special for me and my family. I am honored and humbled to serve as the president of Rice University and look forward to working with all of you to make the university stronger and better.
