Klara Jelinkova is the Vice President for International Operations and IT and Chief Information Officer at Rice University. She arrived at Rice in January 2015 to advance the university’s strategic goals through sound information technology investments. She is responsible for strategic technology issues ranging from governance, policy and resource allocation to protocol and organization as well as operational issue connected to Rice’s global footprint and interest. She represents the university nationally and internationally. The Office of Information Technology (OIT), the Information Security Office and International Operations Team report to her.
Prior to joining rice Ms. Jelinkova served as the Chief Information Officer and Senior Associate Vice President at the University of Chicago. Her accomplishments included the restructuring and realignment of the IT function and the implementations of Grants management system, Budget system, new HR/Payroll system, compressive business intelligence and reporting facility, and other systems and services. She supported the University of Chicago’s global aspirations by overseeing the technology implementation of centers in Beijing, Delhi and Hong Kong.
From 2006 – 2010, Ms. Jelinkova served as the Assistant Vice President of Shared Services and Infrastructure at Duke University. She was also the interim CISO. Before coming to Duke, Ms. Jelinkova spent 10 years at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Ms. Jelinkova is an active member of several regional and national higher education organizations. She currently serves on the boards of Internet2 and the Lonestar Education and Research Network (LEARN). Ms. Jelinkova is also the Vice-Chair of the RHEDcloud Foundation. She serves on several industry advisory boards such as the Oracle Education and Research Industry Strategy Council and Cisco Higher Education Advisory Council. Ms. Jelinkova is also a lead Principal Investigator (PI) for several National Science Foundation (NSF) grants.
